
imagine: 2018 Essay Contest
In Israel, OneVoice is working with 250 local schools across Israel, 20 municipality education centers in major cities, a number of youth magazines and internet forums, the Tel Aviv Cinamathique, as well as Tzofim, Noar Oved, Shomar Tzair, and Mhanot Haolim youth movements to bring the imagine: 2018 essay contest to youth from all over Israel.
WHEN DOES THE CONTEST TAKE PLACE? Applicants will have from 16 March 2008 until 30 April 2008 to submit their essays.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? All school children aged 13-18 throughout Israel are eligible to participate.
HOW DO PARTICIPANTS SUBMIT ENTRIES? OneVoice Israel will accept submissions in four different ways:
WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS? School teachers and administrators will choose one semi-finalist per school; the leaders of each youth movement will select ten essays from their pool; and the OneVoice Israel staff and board will select a total of forty semi-finalists from among the internet submissions. Another round of judging will narrow the pool to a total of 50 winners by 25 May 2008.
WHAT IS THE SCORING CRITERIA? Essays will be scored by teachers based on the following criteria and 100-point system:
WHAT DO WINNERS RECEIVE? An event honoring the winners will be held in mid September 2008 . All 50 winning essays will be published in a booklet, to be presented to the Israeli governmental leadership. Additionally, the winners' essays will be entered into the pool of applicants for the imagine: 2018 Director's Cut.
